Dover South Elementary

Welcome to Dover South Elementary

South is one of three elementary buildings in the Dover City School District. We serve children from preschool through fifth grade. We have a committed and dedicated group of teachers and support staff that strives to provide engaging instruction to meet the needs of all learners.

There are a variety of programs and activities provided for our children. We provide after school intervention and enrichment for students in grades one through five. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in the St. Jude's Math-A-Thon, Relay for Life, Taking It to the Schools, and Big Brothers, Big Sisters. Our Student Council, under the direction of our school nurse and guidance counselor, Mrs. Crawford, plans many community projects and spirit days for our students. We have many fifth grade students that participate in our band and orchestra programs. Our fourth grade students participated in the Young Authors Conference. Fifth graders have the opportunity to be part of the Tuscarawas County math tournament.

The use of technology to enhance learning is also a strength at South Elementary. Through teacher-written grants, students have the opportunity to engage in interactive learning through the use of Smart Boards and Distance Learning. Our "Accelerated Reader" program has been a huge success. During the 2010/2011 school year our students read over 4,000 books.

We strive to surround our students with opportunities for success. One visit to South Elementary and you quickly see that our children and their educational needs are our first priority.
