Welcome Back, Crimson Tornadoes.

Karie McCrate Superintendent
August 2024

Dover Parents and Families:

It is my honor to be among the first to say, Welcome to the 2024-25 School Year. If your family is at the start of your school journey, we’re glad you are here. We don’t take lightly the fact that you chose Dover City Schools for your child. We recognize the privilege and responsibility that is, and we’re here for it. Welcome.

If you’ve been in our school community for years, we are equally happy that you are here. On behalf of more than 300 team members here at Dover Schools, we promise you our best effort every day. Thanks for your continued faith in us and allowing us to be a part of your child’s growing up in Dover, Ohio. We celebrate the great days, we forgive and grow from the challenging ones, and together, we work toward the brightest of days for our children. To you, we say, Welcome Back.

Welcome back to a time filled with endless possibilitiesYour child’s teachers and I are excited to witness the spark of curiosity ignited in our students. Whether your dreams for this year include your child learning to read, playing an instrument for the first time, feeling the joy of that big win, or gaining admission to their university of choice … it’s time. August is a time for new dreams to become realities.

Welcome back to a place where challenges are considered opportunities. With each of our support, hurdles will be transformed into clear paths forward. Our schools are arenas where, every day, resilience is revealed and character is strengthened through challenge. Some days are meant to be hard; that’s ok. Here, we hope your child learns to navigate setbacks with grace and emerge stronger than ever. And that they know they never, ever have to do it alone.

Welcome back to a world of knowledge and discovery. Our classrooms foster a deep understanding of the world while nurturing the core values that define our community and your family. Through reading, writing, and critical thinking, your child will develop the tools to question, analyze, and form opinions that are uniquely their own. Most importantly, we believe in treating everyone with respect and dignity.

Welcome back to a community that believes in you.  For well over 100 years, this community has supported countless young people as they've begun their school journeys. This unwavering belief that every child matters and is valued and supported has made a profound difference in the lives of generations. If, together, we continue to do that for every Dover student, we will have succeeded.

I believe our children’s potential is limitless, and remain committed to providing you with the resources and inspiration that allows them to soar! So … let’s do this! Filled with enthusiasm, optimism, and a shared commitment to excellence, let’s get this school year started.

Together, we are Dover.

Parent Resources

In 2024-25, all K-12 students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Per federal requirements, this applies to full meals only.  There is a charge if students purchase "extra" or "independent" items. Examples of this might include extra milk, a bottle of water or special drink only, or extra entrees. Please contact Angie Welch, Food Service Director, at 330-364-7103 with any questions.

2024-2025 Bus Routes
Next year's bus routes are posted at this link. If you have a child new to Dover or who was not on a bus last year, please call the Transportation Office at 330-602-3315 as soon as possible.

If you drive your children to school and pick them up at the end of the day, there are some ways you can help the traffic flow.  Please have your child dressed and prepared to exit the car on the drop-off side. Moving ahead and filling open spots is helpful, and following the directions of the staff working the drop-off lanes keep everyone safe and traffic moving!

Our principals will provide more specific instructions that are important for the safety of all. Here are some additional maps and resources that may help:

Supply lists are provided for students in grades K-8. High school students will receive supply lists from their teachers during the first few days of school, as each classroom is different.

Each year, parents are required to update student information to ensure we have up to date address, medical information, and emergency contact information.

Here, you can pay school fees online, see any balances due, and complete the Household Income Survey if you think you may qualify for an academic fee waiver.

Since all students are eligible for free meals in 2024-25, there is no necessary form. However, if you meet the federal income guidelines, you are eligible for academic fee waivers, but you must submit the Household Income Survey for review. It is available here or online in your PaySchools account.
