Edgenuity: Dover Online Academy Grades K-5

Dover Online Academy Grades K-5 will use Edgenuity as its platform to blend online coursework with virtual classroom instruction. For our students in grades K-5, Edgenuity, a leading online learning course providers, offers benefits that include:

Standards-aligned curriculum designed to fully engage and challenge students through rigorous content delivered by interactive, media-rich instruction
Dover City Schools teachers, who will serve as “virtual teachers” that can instruct, remediate, motivate, proactively communicate with students, and provide feedback on assignments

Students will be enrolled in courses created by Edgenuity and supported with instruction from Dover Schools teachers. Students will primarily complete assignments, quizzes and tests in Edgenuity while their teacher provides support, guidance, and accountability.

Dover teachers will organize lessons and assignments to align with the content being taught in the face-to-face classroom by semester to allow students to transition back into the classroom or vice versa seamlessly at the January semester break if so desired. There are references in some materials to “Edgenuity teachers” -- Dover teachers will serve in that role.

Family Involvement and “Learning Coach" Guides

For our younger students, a key component of online learning is parent or guardian involvement. A learning coach is a parent, family member, or other adult that facilitates and supports the student through his or her schoolwork. This program is flexible and the 100% online option gives you much freedom and flexibility as a family. These documents provide great detail into what you can expect from the program and your child’s teacher, as well as what your role will be as a parent or “learning coach” for your child.
